Dragon Soars To ACT Win at Airborne
-Plattsburgh, NY - - Brent Dragon won the 33rd Leos Furniture Fall Foliage 150
Sunday at Airborne Raceway and tightened up the ACT Dodge Tour title chase. Dragons
victory, his second of the season, both at Airborne, moved into him second place, 23
points behind defending champion Jean-Paul Cyr, who faded late and finished 11th. Phil
Scott and Eric Williams, who started 18th and 17th respectively, made strong advances over
the final 30 laps to finish 2nd and 3rd.
Dragon started 14th and progressed to the front using the outside lane, which few drivers
were willing to try. He raced past Jamie Fisher for fourth on lap 49, went outside of Dave
Wilcox for third on lap 53, moved past Todd Stone with authority for second three laps
later, and was soon door to door with Eric Chase, who had led from lap 17.
Dragon had taken the lead and built a full straightaway lead when the races first
caution came on lap 73. The restart brought Phil Scott and Jean-Paul Cyr into the picture,
just behind Dragons closest threats Chase, Todd Stone and Dave Wilcox.
Two restarts and fifty laps later, a spin by Jacob McGrath put Cyr alongside Dragon on the
front row, followed by Stone and Scott. Scott, with Williams in tow , raced underneath
Stone and closed in on Dragon and Cyr, but after one more caution, Cyr began to drop back
with tire problems.
A final restart set up a four-lap shootout between Dragon and Scott for the win, but
Dragon never faltered. Brian Hoar, a two-time Fall Foliage winner making his first ACT
Dodge Tour start of the season, finished two car lengths behind Williams in fourth. Steve
Fisher, Eric Chase, Tom Fearn, Todd Stone, Jamie Fisher, and Dave Wilcox held positions
5-10.
"We did what we came to do, try to win this race, which I had never done and gain
some points on Cyr," said Dragon. "Having the bottom lane was a luxury towards
the end, but we had to pass people on the outside to get there. Jean and Phil had good
cars, but a real good car is not going drive around another real good car on the
outside."
Dragon, Tom Fearn and Mark Lamberton won the heats. Trampas Demers ran away with the
"B" feature, but wasnt able to mount a bid in the main event. Patrick
Laperle went down a lap early, wound up 13th and slipped from second to third place, 25
points behind Dragon. Eric Chase brought the Mansfield Heliflight Chevrolet No. 40 home in
sixth, an ACT career-best.
Two races remain on the 2004 ACT Dodge Tour. The next event is the $10,000-to-win Dodge
Dealers National 150 at Lee USA Sunday, September 26. The Tour finale, the 41st Milk Bowl
at Thunder Road, is set for Saturday/Sunday October 2, 3. |

Race 5
Country Pools & Spas 100
White Mnt'n Motorsports Park - Sat. June 5th
With the new car running well and
with some luck in drawing pole position for Heat #3, Brent led from green to checker to
take the heat win and the fifteen points.
Starting the 100 lapper in the 16th spot, Brent was in good company with Laperle in 14th
and Cyr in 19th. It looked like a big challenge since little passing had been seen in the
heats.After a couple of
early cautions, the points leaders began to work their way to the front. Cyr and Laperle
got going a little quicker than the #55, but by the end of the race the car got better and
Brent found he was fast in the outside grove. As the laps wound down, Brent caught the
fourth and fifth place cars but ran out to time to make a pass. |

Sonny Fleury Memorial 100
Twin State Speedway - Fri. May 28th
Being hit from behind while running
towards the front late in the race led to a head-on tirip into the wall, a 20th place

finished for the Sunday, May 30th event.
In the first week of June, the wreck was completely stripped down and was headed for the
Dale Shaw Race Cars shop for a new front clip. |
