SECOND at the
The New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl
ACTion Super Series
Thunder Road - Barre, VT - Oct. 2nd |
With finishes of 2nd
and 12th in the first two segments, Brent drove to the front to take the win of the third
segment. But Patrick recovered from a hit into the wall and -- with the help of a couple
of incidents eliminating a number of cars -- made it from the back on the inverted restart
to the finishing spot he needed for the overall win.
Jean-Paul is once again the ACT Champion with Brent third in the series points standings. |

| From Justin St.
Louis Speed51.com report: A series of late-race restarts, including
one with four laps remaining, brought the challenges of 2004 Furniture World of Vermont
Fall Foliage 150 winner and three-time Airborne track champion Brent Dragon.
"Brent took a shot at me on
the last couple of restarts," said Laperle, "but his car wasn't working on the
outside at the end. Just after the last green flag my car was both loose and pushing, and
I said 'man, Dragon's gonna pass me,' but I kept him behind me and won the thing."
While Dragon was strong, he thinks
a new coat of asphalt may have hurt his chances. "
There isn't the outside lane that there used to be here," he said. "They paved
the inside of 3 and 4, and it's given it a lot more bite on the bottom. A year ago with
four laps to go, I would have been able to beat Patrick. You can get so much momentum up
high, and it was rougher on the bottom and you'd have to check up, but now you can just
come off there wide open."
"If I could have been ahead of
him just enough to pinch him a little bit I probably would have had a chance, but Patrick
isn't an easy one to get ahead of. It was fun and I like racing with Patrick, he's a good
little racer. A lot of people have had some rough times with him, but he and I seem to get
along and he ran very clean."

Auto Labor Day Classic 200
Thunder Road Int'l Speedbowl - Sept. 4th |
Brent posts a sixth place in the 200 with Jean Paul
Cyr the winner, Dennis Demers 2nd, and Dave Pembroke, Patrick Laperle, and Phil Scot for
3, 4 and 5 in a three wide at the finish line. Brent had taken the lead on lap 31 and held
it until Cyr took over on lap 115. The #55 dropped spots as the handling went away. Brent
stands third in the points with 607 versus Cyr at 688 and Pembroke at 627.
From Justin St. Louis "Leftovers" Speed51.com
report:
"We had a good car through midway," Dragon said, "but it just got
tight and we didn't have any tires left. The stagger closed right up on it. We had another
set of tires, but I don't know if we could have made it back up that far (if we had
pitted)."
"If it could have been 100 laps, we'd have been all set. It's alright, we came
out in one piece, and we can go get ready for Airborne. We'll give 'em hell next
time." |

BRENT TAKES THE WIN!
Bay State 100 At Seekonk Speedway
Seekonk, MA - August 13 |
(Seekonk Speedway
Release) In the American-Canadian Tours Bay State 100, Brent Dragon
proved he was the class of the field, piloting his Furniture World #55 Dodge to Victory
Lane for the first time this season on the tour.
Dragon started third in the 26-car field, and quickly moved to second behind early
race leader Dennis Botticello. After a brief side-by-side battle, Dragon utilized the
inside lane to power into first. Rich Lowrey and rookie Scott Payea took second and third
on a lap 8 restart with Dave Pembroke and Roger Brown sliding into the top five as well.
A total of 8 cautions slowed the race, mostly involving minor spins and fender-benders. At
the halfway point, Dragon held a comfortable advantage over Lowrey, Payea, Brown,
Pembroke, Ken Dufour, B. J. Piekarski, and Botticello. In the second half of the race,
Piekarski, point leader Jean-Paul Cyr, and Seekonk alumnus Ryan Vanasse began to work
their way forward. Contact between Payea and Brown sent Scott spinning on lap 84, forcing
both drivers to restart from the rear. Before two more laps could be completed, Lowrey
spun, and Dufour was sent pitside with an unrelated flat tire.
By this point, Piekarski and Cyr had muscled their way around Pembroke for second and
third, while Botticello was back up to fifth, just ahead of Vanasse. Cyr grabbed second
just before the final yellow waved for a tangle between Brown and New Yorker Mike
Jurkowski on lap 87. The final 14 laps were run caution-free, giving Cyr a chance to try
and reel in Dragon. Jean-Pauls efforts, however, were futile, as Brent Dragon raced
under the checkers to earn his sixth career ACT event and the lions share of the
nearly $16,000 purse.
Cyr was second, followed by Piekarski, Seekonks 2000 Baby Grand champion. Ryan
Vanasse earned a season-best fourth, followed by Phil Scott, A. J. Begin, Dennis
Botticello, Dave Pembroke, Dave Whitcomb, and Lew Fortin. |

August 11th -
We would like to thank all of our family, fans, competitors and especially our sponsors
for showing us tremendous support after the late race incident involving the #55 at Oxford
Plains Speedway on
Saturday, July 30th.
A race director's call has taken our team out of contention for the ACT championship the
last two years. It has been discouraging not only to me as a driver but also to all of my
crew and family.
With all the phone calls and e-mails we have received, it makes the decision to finish out
the year on the ACT tour a little easier.
We also would like to thank Tom Curley for his phone call to explain his reasoning on the
call and pointing out in an e-mail to one of our sponsors that he clearly did not think it
was Brents fault. But he did make the determination at the time that Brent was
involved in the yellow.
We hope to see all of you at the races, but clearly understand if you choose not to go.
Thank you all for the great support,
Brent Dragon & The 55 Racing Team |

Full race report at www.ACTtour.comThe
final caution, for Ken Dufour's spin, came out on lap 131. On the final restart,
Michaud lined up beside Pembroke with Dragon in third, directly behind. When the
green flew, Pembroke surged ahead pulling Dragon with him. Michaud was left to chase the
pair over the final circuits. Dragon made several runs at Pembroke, but with Michaud
in hot pursuit he had to protect his rear bumper. The finishing order showed
Pembroke, Dragon and Michaud taking the top three spots.
"I had my hands full with both Cris and Brent at the end," stated Pembroke.
"Brent got up on the outside and leaned on me a bit, but I think it hurt him
more than it bothered me. We had set the car up for the wet and rainy conditions and
it held up even though the track improved and the race went on," he concluded.
Dragon concurred with Pembroke's observation, "With about five or six to go, I messed
myself up. I got alongside him and I leaned on him a little to let him know I was
there but it slowed my momentum. It took a couple of laps to get the car going
again, plus I had Cris right there looking to capitalize on another mistake. I just
ran out of time," Dragon finished. |

Seacoast Late Model Challange 100
Lee USA Speedway - May 6th
6th Place Finish |
 |
 |
 |
The ACT opener at Lee USA Speedway on Friday, May 6th was a long, cold,
tough day where the Dragon Motorsports team was rewarded for it's persistence with a 6th
place finish - and the #55 in one piece.
Some changes between the first and second practice sessions got the car going well and
Brent advanced to the feature by finishing in the top four in his heat - and avoiding a
conci.
The race had a complex
qualifying system with seperate heats for ACT and for Lee regular Friday show late models
and a plus/minus rating based on number of cars passed in the heats. ACT and Lee cars were
accepted for the feature according to how many of each had entered, so 21 ACT regulars, 9
Lee cars, and then provisionals for 2 ACT, 1 Lee, and 1 Bonus were gridded. Brent, due to
his plus rating in his heat, started third, directly behind the Lee late model of Eddie
MacDonald.
The first of many
cautions flew as the second half of the pack scrambled even before entering turn one on
lap one. Brent realized immediately that the handling was way off, with the car tight
everywhere. Brent decided to stay out of the way of faster cars and out of trouble and
make some changes during yellow pit stops.
However the adjustments -
including spring rubbers - resulted in little improvement - until 14 laps from the end
Brent decided to swap the right front tire with the right rear to regain some stagger. The
#55 was transformed and Brent set to work making his way up from the back of the pack,
which after a series of multi-car wrecks was down to 15.
Brent ran up to 6th and finished with only a couple a tire marks on the body - an
unbelievable ending to a race that had been going so poorly. Brent did a truly remarkable
job in avoiding the many tangles which had done so much damage and ended the chances of
many front runners. |
